"The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell:  Positively contagious!  This book offers explanatory power to why some ideas are better or at least more 'contagious' than others.  Gladwell motivates you to contemplate the value of ideas and strategies in exciting new ways.  Ask yourself is the idea 'sticky'?  What is the most powerful context for the idea?  Do you have the rules of an epidemic working in your favor?

"Strategic Renaissance" by Evan Dudik:  Attacks one of my favorite business strategists- but tremendous gain with this pain!  This book is attempting to retire the internationally successful notion of Sustainable Competitive Advantage and replace it with Opportunity, Creation, and Exploitation.  My personal read is that the authors are at odds (an understudy angry with his Harvard professor).  The result in my opinion is business strategy gets evolved and we all win with the combined thinking.

"The Moral Obligation to be Intelligent" by Lionel Trilling:  If you're looking for the 5 minute bottom line answer then skip this book; it is not for those who desire a simple system of meaning.  I'm still thinking about and realize that my vocabulary needs to be sharpened if I'm to extract additional meaning on the 2nd round of reading it.

"Substance of Style" by Virginia I. Postrel:  We are facing an aesthetic imperative in all aspects of our lives.  This book demonstrates that style has more meaning to human life than being just a social signal.  In this age of look and feel we are finding our identities reflected in the sensory aspects of our environment.  We  are finally able to translate our ineffable sense of self into a tangible expression.  We are approaching a time where valuing style is considered substantive.  That we value style is additive to the list of our other human values: function, comfort, and convenience.  This book proposes that there is no 'real authority' on style and that having style takes precedence over any particular style.  The discourse is fabulous and covers aesthetics  in all aspects of our lives from the products we buy, the places we visit and inhabit as well as our personal appearances.  A fun read!
